Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai has been making various statements to assert his presence in politics, said Social Welfare and Women Empowerment Minister P. Geetha Jeevan here on Friday.
Speaking to the media after inaugurating Tamil and English elocution competition organised by Tamil Nadu State Minorities commission, she said Mr. Annamalai was making random statements to establish his presence in politics. “Even yesterday, he spoke disrespectfully about the Deputy Chief Minister. I wonder what he actually studied in IPS service,” she remarked.
She added that Mr. Annamalai had posted a hashtag against the Chief Minister on social media in an attempt to prove his importance within the party.
The Minister also highlighted that the State Minorities Commission is conducting these competitions to help future generations learn about the development of Tamil Nadu and the Tamil language. She emphasised that Tamil Nadu was progressing in all the departments under the current government, however some individuals unable to tolerate this progress are deliberately trying to hinder the State’s growth. The people of Tamil Nadu would never allow such attempts to succeed.
Commenting on the National Education Policy (NEP), she said Hindi had been imposed, which was the reason the Tamil Nadu government opposed it. She pointed out that in States such as Rajasthan and Maharashtra, Hindi imposition had led to decline of their native languages and to prevent a similar situation happening to Tamil, the State government was opposing the three-language policy.
Patta for land
Regarding the issuance of pattas to residents who had been living for more than 10 years in the unobjectionable poramboke land, she mentioned that a camp was held in Thoothukudi and around 3,700 people had applied for digitalised and new pattas. The revenue department would conduct an inspection to provide patta to all eligible candidates, she added.
